What is a portal frame?

portal-frame-main-components

A portal frame is a steel frame that consists of two upright columns and two rafters that meet at an apex.

It is the most common structural choice for spans from 20m to 60m.

Generally, a series of portal frames are spaced evenly, on after the other, and then clad to create an enclosed building.
