WHEN OPINIONS ARE TAKEN TOO FAR

We are all allowed our own opinions, right? But do we have to try and force our opinion and beliefs onto others?

The term vegan was coined in 1944 and was first used as “non-dairy vegetarian”. However it is now widely recognised as practice of abstaining from the use of animal products, particularly in diet, and an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of animals.

It has grown in popularity over the last 10 years and there are more vegan stores opened and vegan options became increasingly available in supermarkets and restaurants in many countries.

We have seen a lot in the media lately about animal activists making illegal entries on to farms to harass farmers for what they perceive as poor treatment of animals.

It has never been legal to enter someone else’s property without their permission.

We all know that farmers treat their animals with dignity and respect. There is no need for harassment and filming without permission.

When visiting farms, one thing that really strikes you is how the farmers put the animals first. Especially in these tough years of drought, many farmers would have given their livestock food before grabbing a bit to eat themselves!

Lets keep this all in perspective. Vegan’s can be vegans and farmers can be farmers, there is no need to vilify either side of the story.

There is no need to act illegally, just to prove your point.

Lets respect one and another and work together to solve the much larger problems our wonderful country is facing.
