What are the little things that you need to have under control as an architect?
Tracing paper –
This comes in handy all the time, so it’s worth stocking up on a few rolls that you can have lying around in every corner of your office.

A good quality camera –
A complete essential. Every job you do should be well documented with photographs, for your own records, your clients and for future marketing materials.
You pour a lot of effort into your projects, so they deserve proper photographic documentation.

Headphones –
If you work in a shared space, this is a must. Particularly if music helps you work. What goes into your ears can really help you focus, but there’s no reason for you to take control of the entire office’s airwaves.

Source of inspiration
Keeping the spark alive is important. Keep up to date with what’s happening in your industry and keep your ideas fresh with relevant publications.

Contacts
Your most important tool as an architect; the people you know.
Make sure you keep lines of communication open regular. Know other architects, builders, structural steel fabricators and interior designers. Keep them all on hand.
